good news, bad news, good news

I know, I'm the worst blogger ever.  Well, I cleaned out the cob webs today to update you on the status of Kim Sinclair Photography.  I apologize in advance for the rambling!
Before I was a photographer, I was a Special Education teacher.  For the past 8 years, I have had the privilege to stay home with my children.  While I was a stay-at-home mom, my love for photography grew with each child and after several friends and acquaintances continually asked me to photograph their children and families Kim Sinclair Photography was born.  I enjoyed taking pictures and meeting new clients, but my passion for teaching has never left me.  The plan for me has always been to return to teaching when my baby goes to kindergarten which happens to be this Fall (don't get me started).  I did consider doing photography full time, but I feel like God has called me to be a Special Education teacher.  After going back and forth, I realized that I even missed the classroom and as much as I love photography, the majority of my time is spent behind a computer, editing, emailing, blogging, posting, updating websites, learning, networking, ordering, paying taxes, bookkeeping, etc.  I am a people person and I thrive on relationships with others and face to face interaction.  My favorite part of photography is the interaction I have with my clients and it is such a very small part of it.  All this to say, I spent the past year working on renewing my certification and looking for a job.  I spent my life every summer working at my dad's camp for mentally handicapped individuals (Camp Spearhead).  This is where my love for those with mental disabilities began and I have always wanted to teach a class full of the people I have grown to love.  Here's where the title of this blog comes in...
GOOD NEWS: I got a job!! I couldn't be more thrilled with the teaching position God has provided for me at a local high school.
BAD NEWS: Kim Sinclair Photography will be taking a back seat and I will not be scheduling appointments in the near future with my new teaching schedule.  My photography email is disabled and my website will soon come down.  This blog and my facebook page will, however, remain.
GOOD NEWS:  While I am not taking on any new appointments, I am strongly considering a day of mini-sessions this Fall.  It will be a digital package deal, but I will have more details on that later when I know my schedule.
I will continue to share things on my facebook page and maybe even here who knows (don't hold your breath, I don't have a great track record). I hope to be able to do more in the future, but I will take it as I go!
Thanks for all your support and allowing me to photograph your children and families.   Here are a few from a session last week of this super cute little 6 month old boy, just in case you only came to this blog for the pictures...

2011 and looking forward

Ok, I know it's February and I'm pretty sure I'm like the worst blogger ever, but hey, better late than never! I mentioned before that I am taking a hiatus this year mainly to spend time with my family, but also to finish my recertification so I can return to teaching, should the right job become available. With that said, I know I can't quit cold turkey, so I am planning on having a day of Spring or Summer mini-sessions and I will have more on that when I figure out my schedule. Anyways, I'm hoping to share some personal projects that I am working on as well.
In the meantime, here are some favorites from 2011. Of course, I couldn't put them all on here, but you can see more on my facebook page from last year as well. Maybe I won't wait so long to share on the blog again!!

Christmas Card 2011

I hope each and everyone of you had a very Merry Christmas! We have been having a ball this holiday. I am looking forward to taking some time off in 2012 to spend more time with my family. I am hoping to share some favorites from 2011 on the blog soon(gasp, I know I'm terrible at blogging much). I just wanted to share our Christmas card from this year that includes many great memories of 2011. You can view last year's card HERE. Enjoy!

Fall Sessions and other business

I am officially scheduling Fall sessions! Normally I have already begun booking, but I had to wait for several things to be finalized before I knew my schedule. This time next year I will be back in the classroom. This has always been the plan for me. Teaching is what I've been called to do! I love photography and I have enjoyed meeting new people and capturing special moments for many of you. As of right now, I am not planning on scheduling any more sessions after 2011. I am taking a few classes for renewing my teaching certification and I want to focus on that and enjoying my last year as a stay at home mom.
With that said, my appointments for the Fall will be very limited. I am offering a day of mini-sessions in October. Other sessions will be scheduled for Saturday mornings only (except for newborn sessions). Please email me at kim@kimsinclairphotography.com to schedule your session and not on facebook (even friends and previous clients). It is easier for me to keep track of everyone's requests in one place. Even if you have previously expressed interest in a Fall session, please email me for an appointment. Your session is not secure until you have confirmed a date from me AND paid your session fee. All session fees must be paid in full at the time of booking. I will schedule sessions in the order I receive your email. I have had several inquiries, so please email as soon as you can to secure a session! Pricing changes have been made and updated on my website HERE!
Thank you for all of your love and support! I look forward to hearing from you!

What I've been up to this summer...

Wow, this summer has been crazy busy and one of the best I can remember! My kids are at the age now where we can pick up and go much easier. No bottles, diapers, strollers, naps etc. We spent almost the first half of our summer at the beach. The kids loved it, we loved it, the dog loved it...almost makes me want to move there except then work would be there and it wouldn't feel much like a vacation. After our trip to the beach trip, I was able to squeeze in a couple of sessions before I went on a trip with my husband to New York City. I love it there. We have been a handful of times now and we always manage to find something new to do that we haven't done before. Here are a few photos from my summer. The first two are from our first trip to the beach. My sweet girl learned to swim. I'm really proud of her! I'll be back to my summer sessions starting tomorrow!!!

BOYS! {Greenville, SC children's photographer}

Well, I can certainly relate to boys having two of my own. These brothers are only 11 months apart! They are each very different in their personalities. I've had the pleasure of photographing their cousins and not it was their turn. Thanks for coming all the way from Charlotte!!
